WASHINGTON -- Interrogation provides valuable intelligence that protects the United States from terrorist attacks, panelists agreed Wednesday at an American Enterprise Institute event.
Capt. Glenn Sulmasy examined whether the detainee dilemma is a law enforcement issue or an armed conflict. He concluded that because it is a hybrid conflict, a new, hybrid military-civilian court system would best serve justice to those detained.
During Wednesday's panel, the three speakers provided an overview on the state of the war on terror and discussed new directions for military and intelligence policy in the battle against al Qaeda.
Panelists:
Gen. Michael Hayden, Former Director of the CIA and National Security Agency
Capt. Glenn Sulmasy, U.S. Coast Guard Academy
Marc A. Thiessen, AEI
