CGA Aviation Club to have live, virtual meeting with International Space Station crew

NEW LONDON, Conn. — The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Aviation Club is scheduled to host a live, virtual meeting in the McAllister Hall Auditorium here Tuesday at 2:40 p.m. with Expedition 30 Commander Dan Burbank, a NASA astronaut currently aboard the International Space Station.

Burbank, a retired U.S. Coast Guard captain and native of Manchester, Conn., will speak and answer questions with the Aviation Club for 20 minutes during the video conference.

Burbank graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy with a degree in electrical engineering in 1985. He was selected by NASA in 1996 and served as spacecraft communicator for both Space Shuttle and ISS missions. From 2007 to 2009, Burbank served as a professor of engineering at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy where he taught Astronomy, Aerodynamics and Statics and Engineering Design.
