CGA holds memorial service for crew of CG 6017

U.S. COAST GUARD ACADEMY, Conn. -The U.S. Coast Guard Academy held a brief memorial service in honor of the fallen aircrew of CG-6017 July 13, 2010 on the Washington Parade Field.

U.S. COAST GUARD ACADEMY, Conn. - The Coast Guard Academy held a brief memorial service today in honor of the fallen aircrew of CG-6017 on the Washington Parade Field.

The service was held at 7:45 a.m. on the front steps of Hamilton Hall with Rear Adm. J. Scott Burhoe, superintendent of the Academy, giving brief remarks followed by the observation of morning colors at 8:00 a.m.

Second class cadets Joseph Dillier, Jamie Wright and Brett Godiksen held the portraits of the fallen aircrew during the ceremony as their classmates performed the colors ceremony.

The Corps of Cadets, officer candidates, swabs, and AIM students were all aligned in formation surrounding the flag pole for the memorial.

The National Ensign was placed at half-staff to honor the crew.

Deceased are:

Lt. Sean D. Krueger, 33, of Seymour, Conn.  The Aircraft Commander was married with three children. Krueger graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 2000. His awards/accolades include: Air Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal, four Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Service Medals, Coast Guard Unit Commendation Medal, three Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendations, Commandant's Letter of Commendation, Armed Forces Service Medal, Global War Terror Service Medal, Coast Guard "E" Ribbon, two National Defense Service Medals, two Humanitarian Service Medals, Coast Guard Overseas Service Medal, Coast Guard Pistol Expert Medal, Coast Guard Presidential Unit Citation, Transportation 9-11 Medal, DOT Outstanding Unit Award.  He served in the Coast Guard for more than 10 years.

AMT1 Adam C. Hoke, 40, of Great Falls, Mont.  The Air Crewman was single with one child.  His awards/accolades include:  Aircrew Insignia, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, two Coast Guard Unit Commendation Medals, three Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendations, Global War Terror Service Medal, two Commandant's Letter of Commendations, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation, two Coast Guard "E" Ribbons, two National Defense Medals, Humanitarian Service Medal, Coast Guard Presidential Unit Citation, five Coast Guard Good Conduct Medals, DOT Outstanding Unit Award, Coast Guard Rifle Marksman Ribbon, Coast Guard Rifle Expert Ribbon, Coast Guard Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon.  He served in the Coast Guard for more than 17 years.

AMT2 Brett M. Banks, 33, Rock Spring, N.Y.  The Air Crewman was married with two children.  His awards/accolades include:  three Coast Guard Unit Commendation Awards, three Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendations, two Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendations, Commandant's Letter of Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Coast Guard Presidential Unit Citation, Coast Guard Sea Service Ribbon, three Coast Guard Good Conduct Medals, Transportation 9-11 Ribbon, Global War Terror Service Medal, Coast Guard Rifle Marksman Ribbon, Coast Guard Pistol Marksman Ribbon.  He served in the Coast Guard for more than nine years.

Injured:

Lt. Lance D. Leone, 29, of Ventura, Calif., survived the crash and is being treated at a Seattle hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  He is married. Leone graduated from the Coast Guard Academy in 2002. His awards/accolades include: Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal, two Coast Guard Unit Commendation Medals, Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation, Global War Terror Service Medal, Commandant's Letter of Commendation, Coast Guard "E" Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Coast Guard Special Operations Service Ribbon, Coast Guard Presidential Unit Citation, Coast Guard Sea Service Ribbon, Transportation 9-11 Ribbon, Coast Guard Rifle Sharpshooter Ribbon, Coast Guard Pistol Marksman Ribbon. He has served in the Coast Guard for more than eight years.
